How Important Is My Logo?
In the past six months, my real estate client list has grown tremendously. I love this kind of work. Specifically, I love helping someone figure out how to project their personality and brand through their work and media. In an industry as personal as real estate, my job is to help my clients realize and articulate their strengths as a person – which is a very affirming task. I’m always excited to hep someone create a new logo for their brand.
One of the most frequent questions I am asked is whether or not a logo is important in real estate. After all, when your given name and business name are the same, a logo can seem unnecessary, or even *gasp* too self-important. I imagine other professionals who use their name as their business name (insurance agents, CPAs, seamstresses, hair dressers, etc.) might ask the same question.
So, do you need a logo? YES.
And here’s why…
Your logo sends a message to prospective clients. When done well, it helps tell the story of who you are, what you do, and how you do it. By developing a logo that truly matches YOU and your business, you’re helping clients find you for the right reasons.
Take a look at these stock real estate logos.
Now, answer the following questions for yourself.
-Which logo has the most “high end” feel?
-Which has the most “low end” feel?
-Which belongs to the REALTOR® with the most experience?
-Which represents a company best suited for first-time home buyers?
-Which represents a company with the most personal feel?
-Which represents a company with the most impersonal feel?
-Which represents a company that you would hire?
-Which represents a company that you would want to work for?
If you’re like most of the people in my branding seminars, these questions were easy to answer. And hopefully, that gives you an idea of how important a logo is.
If you attend networking events, then you know how important that first impression is. People make assumptions about you and your business based on what you wear, how you introduce yourself, and more when you meet them in person. A well-developed logo will serve the same purpose, giving your prospective client a great first impression, helping define the kind of professional you are and how you do business, and making it easier for them to choose YOU.
